Why clean an insect netting?
Holland Gaas supplies high quality netting material that is also dirt-repellent. However, dirt may accumulate over time. The reasons for this include: dust, leaves, pollen, etc. Dirty netting reduces ventilation and reduces light ingress. By cleaning the netting regularly, you can fully enjoy the benefits of the Holland Gaas System.
Can I clean the insect netting myself?
Yes, it can be done in 2 different ways. Please be aware of the fact that doing this incorrectly may damage the insect netting. The two ways of cleaning are:
Use the high-pressure pump or spray trolley in conjunction with a spray lance. Provide a maximum pressure of 30 bar. The distance between the nozzle and the netting should be at least 0.3 meters (approx. 1 ft).
Use a low water pressure (approx. 3-7 bar) with a hose of 1¼ (and a GK clutch gradient to ½). The distance between the nozzle and the netting should be at least 2 meters (approx. 6.5 ft).
Do I need cleaning products?
No, if you clean the netting, you only need water. Do not use soap or other cleaning products.
How often should insect netting be cleaned?
This depends entirely on the location of the greenhouse. Usually it is once every 1 to 2 years. Tip: clean a small piece of the netting and you will see the difference immediately.
